Superman Returns

Last night I gathered with friends to watch the first showing of Superman Returns. The movie was worth the wait in line...oh wait, we didn't do that. We bought our tickets early in the afternoon. (Thanks Eric!)

It was worth pre-show activities. What can I say, I was bribed with a stuffed cow.

Ok, honestly I really enjoyed the flick. I've been a fan of Superman since he became a regular at our elementary school sleepovers. Oh yes, us gals watched him for hours on the TV. Maybe it was the purity of the flick, the quest for good...or our own desire to be Lois Lane.

The quest for good is a lengthy one and the 2+ hour flick reminds the audience that Superman still has a Messiah complex. The connection between the earlier Superman flicks is seamlessly sewn as audio excerpts from the earlier movies are intertwined into this new work.

I'll recommend this flick...and Superman, I'll be your Lois Lane anytime. ;-)

Personal, without the need for intimacy

A thought milling in my head for the past several weeks...communications on the internet allow one to be personal, but without the intimacy. Websites, blogs, emails all seem to shriek of the intimitate details of a stranger's life. Heck, there is an entire blog dedicated to people's personal secrets.

Why the source of this vague post? Well, in the past few weeks I have read many such instances of revelation without the desire from the initiator for reaction on the part of the receiver. Screams for help that seem to block aid by the nature of the share.

Vague. Hmmm.

Perhaps such postings, revelations really are screams for help...screams in the dark...screams that hope someone will be able to break the code and offer the comfort so desperately needed.

And the winner is...

Believe it or not, I was at a Tony’s party last night. I think after all was said and done there were 15 of us in attendance. The night included a contest to guess the winners…I placed second. Gosh darn it. (Pretty darn good considering I haven't seen any of this year's nominees) The guy who beat me is the former entertainment editor for the newspaper. I would say he had an unfair advantage. Anyway, we were both shocked when LeChanze won for the Color Purple…on her part, nice acknowledgement of Oprah. (wise career move) It was nice to watch the show with a group of peeps who appreciated it.

How old am I?

Tonight I was reminded that it really doesn't matter.

It's true.

I spent the evening out with some friends here in Amarillo...believe it or not, we rode go-karts off road for several hours...well, until the karts ran out of gas... :-)

After such an adventure three dirt clad folks did the only appropriate thing we could do...we went in search of ice cream.
