Theory of Parallel Dating
This is my friend Greg. I met Greg in college. Now people know him as Fr. Greg.

Throughout our college years Greg referred to the Greg _____ theory of dating. Now that he is a priest, he still encourages single folk to practice his theory of dating. There is a more elaborate story to the Greg theory of dating, but here are the basic premises:
1. The purpose of dating is to find an ideal mate.
2. There are a great number of people populating the earth. Approximately 6.6 billion people currently inhabit the world, that means there are some 3 billion potential mates for each of us. In actuality the number is reduced by the number of people who are already married, or not of the marrying age. However, the fact remains that there are large number of people that could be our potential spouse.
3. In order to reduce the number of "potentials" and place the odds in our favor, we must date many folks.
4. In order accelerate the process single folk should date lots of people to find a future spouse.
5. The Greg theory of dating boils down to dating lots of people at once to enhance the probability of a match. And, that dating is not a serious committment. If one knows on the first date it is not a match, move on!
I'm sure there are finer nuances to the theory, and I would be happy to discuss these with y'all.
This random post was spurred by conversations with Fr. Greg this weekend as he reminded me that I should try his theory of dating and that I might have better luck than the non-existent luck I am currently having. Thanks Padre Greg, I'll take that under consideration.

Week in Review
For those of you who have been around me this past week you might have noticed that I have been a little cranky, overwhelmed and generally floating in a sea of chaos.
Do I know the source of it all? Yeah, I have a pretty good idea.
Despite the chaos, last week I was blessed to be working with folks who had my back. And while I try to say thank you, may be I don't do it enough. So, here are a few well earned dedications:
Daniel, your lighting design for the show was beautiful. The design effectively created the mood we wanted the audience to experience. On a bigger note, thanks for staying with us this week. I know the week was a difficult one for you with the passing of your mother. I am confident that she is proud of you, your work and all that you have become and that she was able to see your creative efforts on stage this weekend. Further, it gave me great joy to watch you and your father interact on Wednesday night. It was clear that your father was very proud of you. And, rarely have I seen you so excited as when you were sharing your artistic passions with your father. While we may not be related by blood, we are family. I've got your back.
John and Russell, what can I say without even asking you two consistently were able to take care of situations that arose. Your problem solving skills ensured a smooth production.
Darryl, your presence this weekend ensured my sanity many times this past weekend. I still don't know how we are going to function without you. While I was being buried by the little things you were able to focus on the big picture and ensure the flawless (at least the audience thought so) execution of the show. More importantly, you have been my friend for the past year and one of my biggest defenders. I noticed. I appreciate it.
Bryan, thanks for not quitting. I know you wanted to on several occasions. And you probably had good reason to on most of those occasions. Yet, this week you went above and beyond, repeatedly arriving at the hall to check on production issues without even being asked(when you were not even scheduled to work) Your actions were not hidden by any cloaking device (Romulan, Klingon or otherwise). Further, you had my back, making sure that I was smiling and reminding me that it is ok (and a rather good thing) to let my hair down. All that being said, maybe some day you can learn how to send a text message.
In the meantime, I am thankful that this concert week is over! And yes, I do work with a lot of men and frankly, I like it that way.

Load-in
Tomorrow we will load-in the gear for the upcoming symphony show. In honor of the 'event' I thought I would share this fun link with you. For some reason, our load-ins seem much more complicated than this. Perhaps because we will load in electrics and audio, build risers instead of push a button (oh, but I do drool when I see modular staging) and a few other tasks.
Enjoy!

Class of '98
Next summer marks 10 years since graduation from high school. Yes, it really has been ten year. Geesh."So, Sue, when are we going to have a reunion?"
That's the question I have heard many times in the past few months. No, I was not a class officer. No, I was not one of the "popular" people, but that does not mean I can't spur on a few reunion plans.
Besides, I have some spare time and I needed a project.
Ok, ok, ok...are you done laughing yet?
In all seriousness, the quest to find all of the River Kings and Queens of '98 is on. I am hosting a blog that will contain frequent updates about the reunion planning.
If you are reading this blog and are a member of the CHS class of '98 or know someone who is, stop in and visit the blog, take the survey, and tell us where you are.
