We have a venue!

Bryan and I have been thinking about what kind of gathering we want to celebrate our wedding day. We want to be able to enjoy time with our friends and family and not feel rushed. Many of the reception venues we considered were either out of our price range or had tight time schedules leaving us feeling that we would feel rushed and needlessly stressed.

Then, one night - it came to us.

A throw down! We should have a throw down!

Ok, I won't talk specifics about what that means for us, but I can tell you that we have found a reception space. The deposit has been paid and we are on track.

Our reception will be held at the Nat in Amarillo. The Nat is located on Route 66 in Amarillo and is on the National and Texas registers of historic places. The Nat was originally built as an outdoor swimming pool. The pool was eventually covered and a 10,000 square foot maple dance floor was added.

We are excited to host a party for our friends and family in this space.

Drama Filled

Bryan has arrived at the conclusion that in order for it to be concert week, I have to have some drama. Hmm, while that might be an accurate evaluation of the past - it's not something that I need to continue. So, hun, I think I'll decline your offer to be my source of drama on future concert weeks. I don't know that it is the best choice for our marriage. ;-)

In all seriousness, drama did strike again this week when I headed for the car Friday morning and discovered that the passenger side window had been been broken out and my foolishly left purse had been taken from the car. Argh. It's true - some concert weeks I lose my brain.

So, Friday morning was filled with filing police reports, cancelling credit cards, closing bank accounts, reopening bank accounts and determining how often the cards were used. Sadly, I am a bit of a professional with this after the wSeptember occurence of a similar event. No one was hurt, there was no cash in the purse, so it will be easy to track the fradulent use of the cards.

Just another day...

Wedding Gown: Check!

Yes, that's right, last night I did my part to stimulate the economy: I purchased my wedding gown. I call it a gown because it is no ordinary dress. The dress is pictured in my previous post about wedding dress shopping. I suppose it is a good thing that my normal procrastinating ways did not seep into this part of the planning as my gown has a fifteen week delivery delay. The gown will not arrive in Amarillo for alterations until May 4, two months before our wedding day.

While it is true that the dress may be a big part of the wedding preparations, I finished the most important task several months ago: I found the man. I am eagerly looking forward to the day that I will be Mrs. White.

The date has been set

The date has been set! Bryan and I will be married July 4, 2009 in Amarillo, Texas. This Thursday Bryan and I met with Msgr. Tash - Msgr. will perform our marriage ceremony. We will marry at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 4, 2009 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church.

In the next few months we will have much to do preparing for the ceremony, as well as attending a retreat and a class or two. We will also work with the music minister to select appropriate music for the ceremony.

Bryan and I are really working on some wedding plans (honestly!). We finally have a good idea for our reception, so stay tuned for the details in the coming weeks. We want to have a party that includes a good time for our family and friends and I think our current idea meets that goal.

So, mark your calendars for July 4. We would love it if you could join us in Amarillo for the celebration.

Concerts for Young People

Concerts for Young People had my attention this week. The multimedia extravaganza incorporated video, sound, and classical music to take kids on an adventure through space. For a brief story, check this link.

Happy New Year!

We would like to wish you all the best in 2009! Here are a few pics from last evening's Amarillo Symphony Uncorked.

Moments after the balloons dropped at midnight.

The fabulous Uncorked stage crew!

Bryan likes New Year's Eve because there are noise makers.

There are not many pics from last evening - in part because I spent a large portion of my evening bartending. Can you believe it? It's a longish story - but in short, there were not enough bartenders for the size of the event so I was drafted into service. Not the way I thought I would spend most of my evening - but I was released from bar duty early enough to ring in the New Year with Bryan.

We wish you all the best in the year to come!
