Over 10 years ago, I purchased a pair of Doc Marten shoes. These shoes have served me well for over a decade. An impressive "feet" for any pair of shoes. Today I had to say farewell to these beloved shoes.
The soles are both cracked all the way through (not good on the first rainy day in months) - these cracks were open all the way to my socks. But this was not the flaw that did the shoes in. Oh no, in fact I have been wearing these shoes this way for months (maybe even a year!). No, today the top of the shoe disconnected itself from the sole of the shoe.
It was the parting blow.
Bryan made me do it oh beloved shoes. He made me dispose of you. You are gone but not forgotten and perhaps someday soon I will acquire a distant cousin of yours to fill the void on my feat.

Thank you Bryan - that was quite a feat, be warned she can be a pretty stubborn girl.
Sue, consider it part of your contribution to the stimulus package.
In defense of the shoes...
YOu could have reapired them. There are place in Des Moines that do nothing but cobble shoes.
Erin - I saw the shoes in December and they should have been gone then! They didn't need to be cobbled they needed to be remade totally and not even sure that would have solved all their issues, I think she really did get good milage on the old pair.
