Mom has been in Amarillo for a full day now, so I thought it was time for her and Bryan to meet. The evening was a fairly good one, but not one that we will all soon forget.
I invited Bryan to join Mom and I for dinner at my apartment. I think Bryan was a wee bit nervous about meeting my Mom for the first time. However, I must say - I think my Mom was better prepared for their first meeting than Esther was when I met her. Mom, what venues were you recommending before you and Bryan met? ;-)
Bryan arrived at my apartment on Bryan time that evening. That's ok, I think I woke him up from a much needed nap when I called to let him know that my Mom and I were back at the apartment.
I guess he did not want to arrive empty handed to meet Mom for the first time. Bryan brought my mom a bouquet of yellow roses (and there is a story that we will all not soon forget that I cannot post here because I promised I would not - but there will come an appropriate time and place for that!) and a yellow umbrella. There was logic and very sweet sentiments to accompany both.
Introductions were made and the poking immediately began. This is a good sign, right?
More famous words have not been ommitted from a conversation since the first hearing, "Bryan, you are old! And she is not!". Don't forget that man, I am young! Teeheehee.
Of course, we only harass the ones we truly love, right? At least, that is how it goes in our family - if we didn't poke, you would know that you were not especially loved.
I made chicken fajita roll-ups for dinner that evening - and in standard Sue fashion, I managed to burn my finger something awful.
The valliant Bryan intervened with immediate first aid relief and removed the skin of an onion to place on the burn. Let me just say, onion skin - yes, it really works! I think my mom was a little impressed by the act as I saw some knowing glances from her direction that evening.
Finally, after dinner - a relieved Bryan took me to the store to purchase some actual burn cream (as the onion had done all that it could do).
The end of the evening, the end of first introductions - and all seems to be well. What will the future hold?

Yes, I know I back-dated this blog entry. I hope y'all catch it and read it anyway. This blog is as much my personal journal and collection of thoughts so I wanted to make sure the details were in chronological order. Thanks for indulging me!
I must know more about Bryan! Tell me about Bryan!
Bryan may be old, and Sue is not!(Inside joke, I couldn't help but perpetuate) But Bryan is definitely a wonderful young gentleman and I was definitely impressed. The two seem to be good for each other and that's what's most important. They are both a joy to be around.
I know Sue well enough to know he would be nothing less than wonderful. I was definitely impressed!
