I'm so close to a major milestone. However, it's been awhile since an online check-in, so, here we go.
Today's weight is 213 pounds. 46 pounds lost.
Of the places I track inches, I have lost 24 inches! (That would explain why so many of my clothes no longer fit!)
I'm incorporating exercise into my daily routine - walking three miles a day on the treadmill. I've worn out my shoes and finally purchased new running shoes today (This after trying the first C25K workout and cursing my shoes for the entire workout)
So close to 50...

Today's milestone!
It's more than an NSV, because it is scale related...
With today's weigh in, I'm officially out of the OBESE category with my BMI and now considered overweight. Yahoo! Who would I have thought one could be excited about being overweight?
Now to move on to the next goal - NORMAL!

NSV
This weekend brought a fun NSV. (Non-scale value - this is something our motivational group talks about)
For the first time in nearly 10 years I bought an outfit from the "regular people" section of the store. An outfit that had a size that did not have a "W" at the end. In fact, all of the Plus Size clothing I tried on (not-believing I had really moved out of that section) was too big!
Yahoo!
217 pounds.

The change comes slower now
The change comes slower now. I started this journey on April 21, 2013. Some 14 weeks into the process, the change comes slower now.
Today's weigh-in was a bit disappointing. 223. Yes, this is better, but it's not the level of progress that I have come accustomed to. It's not a set back, but it's a bit disappointing.
There is more work to be done.
So, what started this journey for me? Yes, there was the picture I referenced in a post at the beginning of the journey. But there was more.
The week prior to this post I had an appointment with my eye doctor. (Ok, not a normal eye doctor, this is the doc I see on a regular basis for my glaucoma.) The nurse had me weigh in and then informed me that they would be placing a note in my medical file and informing my health insurance carrier that I was SEVERELY OBESE.
What? An eye doctor determining that I was obese? There was anger at the initial conversation. What right did the eye doctor have to make such a determination? Why were they required to report this to my health insurance provider? The anger. The frustration.
Then reality had to set in.
Yes, a BMI that categorized me as SEVERELY OBESE was something to be concerned about.
It was not my eye doctors fault that I was in this state. It was not my insurance provider's fault that this condition is a warning of greater health concerns ahead.
Time for that reality check.
I had made the decisions that had brought me to this point. I must make the decisions to make a healthier me.
Taking steps forward, one day at a time.
As of today, I have reduced my BMI by 5 points. 6 more points to reach "normal weight". It's a goal.

The journey carries on!
Just because I have not posted in awhile does not mean that I have not been continuing my journey to wellness.
Today's number is looking AWESOME! 224 pounds! That's a total loss of 35 pounds! (Insert happy dance here!)
In addition, I have lost a lot of inches...
Since the journey began I have lost - 4 inches in my waist and 10 inches in my hips. On June 9, I added a series of vitamins to my approach, and the results keep getting better! With these supplements I have lost a total of 15 pounds and 15 inches (from chest, waist, hip, thighs, and arms). I'm motivated to continue to do better.
So, with all of those good numbers, today I had to do something about it - I had to clean out my closet! All of my old clothes were looking like potato sacks and literally falling off of me. My closet now looks really bare as all of the old, too big clothes (and there were a lot of them!) were moved to storage in the attic. (I hope that next summer I will have kept this weight off and we can donate the items). Now, my closet looks really pathetic as there are only a handful of items hanging (and all things I have had to purchase in the past two weeks!)
May the journey continue!

Still going strong
This morning's number is 233.8
For those keeping track and doing the math, that's a little more than 25 pounds! Yahoo. 25 pounds in 8 weeks. Let's keep this thing going!

6 Weeks into a new journey
After 6 weeks, here's the new numbers...
241 pounds (that's a loss of 18 pounds since I started!)
Waist: 41 inches (that's a loss of 3 inches since I started!)
Hips: 52 inches (that's a loss of 3 inches since I started!)
This is a good step, but I still have far to go to reach my goal.
I think with a blog posting like this Bridget Jones would be proud!

a new journey, or more accurately, a journey revisited
April 21. 2013
Yikes.Yes, to be honest, that's what I said to myself when I saw this latest round of photos posted on the Symphony's facebook page.
Yikes.
I'll admit it, there's a lot going on in my life. Most of it, I can't control. However, I can do my part to be healthier.
I deserve that.
So, here it is...concert week, and a day one.
259 pounds.
Waist - 44 inches
Hips - 55 inches
Why write a blog like this? I need to hold myself accountable.
