Week in Review

For those of you who have been around me this past week you might have noticed that I have been a little cranky, overwhelmed and generally floating in a sea of chaos.

Do I know the source of it all? Yeah, I have a pretty good idea.

Despite the chaos, last week I was blessed to be working with folks who had my back. And while I try to say thank you, may be I don't do it enough. So, here are a few well earned dedications:

Daniel, your lighting design for the show was beautiful. The design effectively created the mood we wanted the audience to experience. On a bigger note, thanks for staying with us this week. I know the week was a difficult one for you with the passing of your mother. I am confident that she is proud of you, your work and all that you have become and that she was able to see your creative efforts on stage this weekend. Further, it gave me great joy to watch you and your father interact on Wednesday night. It was clear that your father was very proud of you. And, rarely have I seen you so excited as when you were sharing your artistic passions with your father. While we may not be related by blood, we are family. I've got your back.

John and Russell, what can I say without even asking you two consistently were able to take care of situations that arose. Your problem solving skills ensured a smooth production.

Darryl, your presence this weekend ensured my sanity many times this past weekend. I still don't know how we are going to function without you. While I was being buried by the little things you were able to focus on the big picture and ensure the flawless (at least the audience thought so) execution of the show. More importantly, you have been my friend for the past year and one of my biggest defenders. I noticed. I appreciate it.

Bryan, thanks for not quitting. I know you wanted to on several occasions. And you probably had good reason to on most of those occasions. Yet, this week you went above and beyond, repeatedly arriving at the hall to check on production issues without even being asked(when you were not even scheduled to work) Your actions were not hidden by any cloaking device (Romulan, Klingon or otherwise). Further, you had my back, making sure that I was smiling and reminding me that it is ok (and a rather good thing) to let my hair down. All that being said, maybe some day you can learn how to send a text message.

In the meantime, I am thankful that this concert week is over! And yes, I do work with a lot of men and frankly, I like it that way.
